Frequently asked questions

  • Reading happens off-screen, we want to encourage children to read the books around them. ReadingSpace is a light companion for motivation and progress.

  • Getting started is simple. Fill in the contact form and we will contact you to discuss early access and whether ReadingSpace is a good fit for your school or family.

  • ReadingSpace is about habit formation, not comprehension. It rewards children for reading the books they already have using simple, proven gamification techniques. By avoiding tests and assessments, the app keeps reading low pressure and positive.

  • Yes. AI helps children log books easily and supports light verification to ensure that reading has taken place. It is not used for testing or assessment. The goal is to encourage honest reading habits, not performance.

  • Yes, created by a parent or teacher. Child profiles use automatically generated screen names. No personal details are required from children.

  • Not yet. ReadingSpace is in early testing and is being used by a small group of schools and families. This allows us to refine the experience based on real feedback before launching publicly.

  • Early access allows schools and families to help shape ReadingSpace while it is still being developed.

Feedback from early users directly influences features, design decisions and how the app is rolled out more widely. Nothing is locked in at this stage.

As ReadingSpace moves out of early access, schools and families who were involved early will be kept informed about next steps, including any future pricing or wider availability.

There is no obligation to continue beyond early access.

  • Item descriptionMost school reading programmes focus on measuring progress or testing comprehension. Library schemes often rely on external rewards or one off challenges.

ReadingSpace is different. It is designed to help children build a regular reading habit by making reading feel motivating and enjoyable.

Children read the books they already have access to at home or in school. The app adds a light layer of gamification that rewards consistency rather than performance. There is no pressure, no levels to pass and no comparison between children.

It works alongside existing reading provision rather than replacing it.

  • Reading sessions are set to 10 minutes.

This is a deliberate choice. Short, achievable sessions help children build consistent habits without feeling overwhelmed. Research into habit formation shows that keeping goals small and manageable makes them easier to stick to over time.

Children are encouraged to keep reading beyond the session if they want to, but the focus is on showing up regularly and making reading part of their day.

  • Adults do. Parents and schools manage access and can request deletion at any time.

  • Only adult contact details for early access and updates. Children do not sign up on this site.
